Year 6 Class Page
Year 6 are known as the 'Passionate Panthers' led by Mrs Bushell as the class teacher, with Mrs Morgan as the teaching assistant.
Summer Term 2021
In Year 6, our topic is The Groovy Greeks. We will be looking at the timeline of key events, democracy, the gods and goddesses, architecture and the Battle of Marathon. Our English will have a Greek focus too as we look at myths and legends and play scripts. Reading is still essential and our weekly comprehension sessions will resume this term as will Guided Reading. Towards the end of the term our focus will be on our transition unit as we prepare for the move to secondary school.
It is great to have everyone back for the summer term and we are hoping to plan lots of fun activities for the end of the year too.
Autumn Term 2020
Our topic this term is Passport to the Biomes where we will have a Geography focus. We will be identifying the biomes and looking at different flora and fauna. There will also be a focus on environmental issues surrounding habitats. Maths will be building our confidence and fluency and we will be looking in detail at problem solving and reasoning skills. Reading is still key and on top of guided reading we will have weekly comprehension lessons in small groups.
It is great to have the class back and although they have come back with a great attitude, we will continue to work on our well-being and mindfulness. Above all, we will try to have some fun!
